Hallie Mackey

February 17, 1909 — November 11, 2006

Hallie Virginia Mackey, age 97, of Burnsville, passed into her heavenly home on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Bath Community Hospital. She was born February 17, 1909 in Highland County a daughter of the late William Arlie and Rachael (Swadley) Armstrong.

Hallie enjoyed her long life and loved her family dearly.  She was a farmer and a homemaker.  She spent countless hours tending her garden and taking care of her animals.  She was a member of Burnsville United Methodist Church and Burnsville United Methodist Women’s Group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Rosser Mackey, with whom she had been married for over 50 years.  She was also predeceased by her step-mother, Margie Armstrong; a brother, Luther Brown Armstrong; three half-brothers and two half-sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Wilda Virginia Jackson of Burnsville, three grandchildren, Brenda Hite and her husband, Hugh  and Ann Keyser and her husband, Tommy, both of Hot Springs and Terry Jackson and his wife, Mary Lee of Burnsville; five great-grandchildren, Carol Adcock of Covington, David Keyser of Hot Springs, Lorie Keyser of Roanoke and Lisa Jackson and Tommy Jackson, both of Burnsville; six great-great-grandchildren, Drew, Ryan and Ben Adcock of Covington and Mason, Kendall and Matthew Keyser of Hot Springs; a sister, Rebecca Hupman of Churchville; five half-sisters and a special friend and caregiver, Dr. James Redington.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2006 at Burnsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Debbie Carey and Donald Lee Altizer officiating.

Burial will be in the Burnsville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Hupman, Dempsie Hevener, Charles Alexander, DeWitt Lambert, Lewis Burns, Michael Roberts, Roscoe Roberts and Leonard Neil.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
