Hazel Malcolm

RAPHINE Hazel Bell Malcolm, 85, of Raphine, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at her home. She was born May 28, 1927 in Cherry Grove, WV a daughter of the late Archie Ray and Suttie (Bennett) Arbogast. Mrs. Malcolm was a homemaker who very much enjoyed her family, most especially caring for her grandchildren. Additionally, she enjoyed time spent listening to gospel, bluegrass, and country music as well as talking books. She was predeceased by her husband, Olen Faircloth Malcolm; son, Arnold Malcolm; four grandchildren, Ray Malcolm, Martha Jane Puffenbarger, Jerry Malcolm and Junior Puffenbarger; brother, Roy Arbogast; two sisters, Clara White and Zetta Bennett. She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Malcolm of Churchville and Susie Seal and husband, Brian of West Augusta; four sons, James Malcolm of Cherry Grove, WV, Bobby Malcolm of Raphine, Albert "Shorty" Malcolm of Monterey and Delbert Malcolm and wife, Lori of Raphine; special granddaughter, Nancy Smith of Steeles Tavern, who was raised as a daughter; 20 additional grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Todd Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Seal, Randall Roadcap, Jimmy Botkin, Christopher Puffenbarger, Jay Price, and D.J. Newlen. Mrs. Malcolm's grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from the hours of 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
