Helen Rush Woods, 85, passed away Sunday, April 29, 1990 in Liberty House Nursing Home.
She was born November 4, 1904 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of Harry and Clara (Ruch) Hoffman.
She was married twice and preceded in death by her first husband. On October 8, 1945, she married James Grant Woods.
She was a member of Green Hill United Methodist Church and Monterey Extension Homemakers Club. She helped organize the first Highland County Craft Shop in Monterey where she was a weaver and active in all phases of the shop's operation.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd McNeal Gilmore Jr. in 1937.
In addition to her husband of Monterey, survivors include two daughters, Juanita Gilmore Connell and Jessie Gilmore Lowry, both of Back Creek; a sister, Dorothy Hughes of Somer's Point, NJ; and eight grandchildren; 19 grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in Green Hill United Methodist Church by Dr. Robert Gue and the Rev. Jerry Ginn. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stuart Hiner, Albert Shultz, Keith Scott, George Bird, Henry Brown, Jacob Hevener and Robert Shuttleworth.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home or at the residence at any time.
