Ida Jane Puffenbarger

Ida Jane Puffenbarger, 84, of Staunton, formerly of McDowell, died Wednesday afternoon, September 30, 1987, at the University of Virginia Medical Center at Charlottesville. 

She was born February 18, 1903 at Sugar Grove, W. Va., a daughter of the late Aninias & Lary Eckard. 

Her husband Eli Puffenbarger died November 9, 1975.

She was a member of the McDowell United Methodist Church, after moving to Staunton, she attended Zetta Presbyterian Chapel at Churchville.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Cleta McCray, Mrs. Ruby Spietzer, Mrs. Margaret Arlene hodge and Mre.s Norma eutsler, all of Staunton; two sons, Jesse Lee Puffenbarger and Charles Puffenbarger, both of Churchville; a brother, Ernest Eckard of Churchville; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, George Wilmer and Raymond Puffenbarger.

A funeral service will be will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Patrick H. Winkler. Burial will be in the Head Waters Cemetery.

Grandsons serving as active pallbearers will be Earl Lee and Charles Puffenbarger Jr., Marvin, Terry Wayne and Eugene Hodge Jr., Guy and Robert Spietzer Jr. and Kevin Eutsler.

The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in McDowell.
