J. Walter Botkin, 90, of Doe Hill passed away Friday morning, August 10, 1990 at King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born July 3, 1900 in Doe Hill, a son of G. Lee and Naomi (Blagg) Botkin.
Only July 28, 1940, he married Emma Simmons, who survives.
He was a member of Doe Hill United Methodist Church. he had been a Highland County school bus driver for 26 years, and was a livestock trucker and mail carrier.
In addition to his widow, surviving are two daughters, Lucy Tuner and Ellen Zimmerman, both of Staunton; two grandchildren, James Allan and Tammy Renee Zimmerman; and brother, G. Marvin Botkin of McDowell.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis Ray Turner.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Doe Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve McMillion, with burial in Doe Hill Cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Jay Eagle, Lee Blagg, Charlie Zimmerman, Alfred Armstrong, Glen Botkin Jr., Nelson Simmons, Carroll Mitchell and Jerry Moats.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
