James Edward Mullenax, 89, of Blue Grass passed away Wednesday morning, July 12, 1989 at Camelot Nursing Home in Harrisonburg.
He was born February 13, 1900 at Cherry Grove, WV, a son of William Jackson and Annie Elizabeth (Waybright) Mullenax.
On August 5, 1926, he married Tudie Lee Waybright, who survives.
He was a member of the Circleville Presbyterian Church and was employed as a sawyer before his retirement.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by five daughters, Avis Veli of Adelphi, Md., Glenna Moyers of Upper Marlboro, Md., Nancy Hedges of Bristow and Linda Wilfong of Manassas; two sons, Brooks Mullenax of Circleville, WV, and Owen Mullenax of Nokesville; two sisters, Irene Raines of Riverton, WV and Ruth Warner of Cherry Grove, WV; a brother, John Mullenax of Franklin, WV; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Fred Barner. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ricky, Douglas and Bradley Moyers, Mark Hedges, Jerry and Timothy Smith, and Tom and Darold Mullenax.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends, 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Rescue Squad, Monterey, Va. 24465.
