James Arnold Ruckman, 76 of Bolar, died tuesday afternoon, September 20, 1988 at Bath County Community Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1912 at Hightown, a son of John A. and Clemmie (Hevener) Ruckman,
On June 10, 1950 he married Vesta Bussard of Bolaw, who survives.
He was a member of Valley Bethel Church of the Brethren and Bolar Ruritan Club.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons, Duane A. of McDowell and Blane E. Ruckman of Bolar; two sisters, Mrs. Dahlia R. Waggoner and Miss Wreathie Ruckman, both of Hightown; and three brothers, Elmer of Hightown, Johnnie of Selma, Ala., and Virgil Ruckman of Clearwater, Fla.; one grandson, Tommy Ruckman; one granddaughter, Tammy Ruckman.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Valley Bethel Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Steve Mason, with burial in Big Valley Cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
Pallbearers will be Dale and Ward Bussard, David Hodge, Garland Carpenter, Tom Griffin, Roy Lee Waggoner Jr., and Sam and Tim Ruckman.
The family will receive friends from 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell and at other times at the residence.
