Janet Armstrong

July 7, 1916 — December 22, 2006

Janet H. Armstrong, age 90, of Monterey, died Friday, December 22, 2006 at Bath Community Hospital.  She was born July 7, 1916 at Hightown, a daughter of the late James Ira and Fannie Lee (Dixon) Hull.  On August 26, 1939, she married Carl P. Armstrong, who preceded her in death on October 15, 1987.  She was also predeceased by an infant son, Carl Douglas Armstrong; a grandson, Dean Folks; two sisters, Lottie Gutshall and Ora Fulton; five brothers, Darrell, James, Clarence, Glenn and Russell Hull and three infant siblings.

Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.  She retired from Aileen, Inc.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles “Eddie” Edward and Pattie Folks of Woodbridge and Michael and Beth Armstrong of Mill Gap; five grandchildren, Kittie VanAlstyne, Marsha Sluss, LeAnna Armstrong, Dwain Folks and Seth Armstrong; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel and Hannah Folks, Ryan and Katie VanAlstyne and a brother, Matlin Hull of Monterey.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2006 in the Monterey United Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Sullivan and Pastor Chip Hill. Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jay and Allen Hull, Jim Zirkle, Seth Armstrong, Dwain Folks and Mac Hill.  Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
