MUSTOE Janet Marie Marshall, 75, of Mustoe, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at her home. She was born March 25, 1938 in Clifton Forge, a daughter of the late Russell Glenn and Janet Lillian (Gutshall) Corbett. Mrs. Marshall was an active member of Victory Chapel Advent Christian Church, where she was an organist and pianist for over 60 years and president of the Women's Home and Foreign Mission Society. She retired from the U.S. Government after 25 years of service, working as a claims administrator for the Social Security Administration and a clerk for the Selective Service Board in Highland County. She had also worked as a secretary in the Highland County Treasurer's Office and she once was a Justice of the Peace. She served on the Board of Directors of the Potomac Highlands Recreation Center. Her favorite pastime was bowling and she was a member of the Highland County Bowling League for over 48 years. Mrs. Marshall enjoyed cooking and the beach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell G. Corbett, Jr. and Charles Eldon Corbett. She is survived by her husband, Everett W. Marshall, whom she married on June 21, 1956; her daughter and son-in-law, Tonia M. and W. Keith Comer of Savannah, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Tony R. and Traci M. Marshall of Mustoe; three grandchildren, Lauren B. Comer of Mooresville, NC, William Matthew Comer of Raleigh, NC and Casey C. Siron of McDowell; her sister, Irene C. McAllister of Mustoe; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer L. Jolin of Raphine and April L. Jolin of Chester and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Pastor Kenny Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Monterey Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joe Corbett, Bruce Avery, David Caywood, Jimmy Marshall, Allen Lowry, Darren Maydian, Jason Fridley and Jerry Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen and Russell Lowry, Rudy Armstrong, Henry Harper, Danny Marshall, Steve Marshall, Caleb Borden, Bill Wagner, Daniel McAllister and members of the Highland County Bowling League. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
