Jason Roberts

January 16, 1980 — March 7, 2015

BURNSVILLE, VA Jason "Jake" Wayne Roberts, 35, of Burnsville, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at his home. He was born January 16, 1980 at Roanoke Community Hospital a son of Richard Dale, Jr. and Linda (Wooddell) Roberts. Jason graduated from Bath County High School in 2000. He was a member of Burnsville United Methodist Church. Jason enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his family and friends. Though he suffered his entire life with cerebral palsy Jake never complained, a testament to his character. He loved to play mercy and will be remembered as being able to squeeze your hand half off. He also loved to play Rook and Texas Hold'em, as well as playing little tricks on people to make them laugh. Everyone knew Jake by his little red truck. Jason was a very special son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many people that were lucky enough to have known him. He especially loved attending truck pulls and watching Kevin, Logan, and Dylan pull no matter how sick he was. He was a special buddy to Hannah, who would do anything for Jason (including cussing to get a laugh out of him). Additionally, Jason would look forward to his daily phone conversations with his buddy Bill. Jason will be dearly missed by his family who loved him so much and "can't wait to see him again". He is survived by his parents, Richard "Sam" and Linda Roberts of Burnsville; sister, Cindy Armstrong and husband, Kevin of Burnsville; brother, Michael Roberts and wife, Brenda of Warm Springs; nieces and nephews, Logan, Dylan, Hannah, and Blake Armstrong and Samantha Roberts; maternal grandmother, Mary Wooddell and paternal grandfather, Ritchie Roberts, both of Burnsville; as well as his special friends, Whitney Shifflett of Hot Springs, Bill Wilson of Sandusky, OH and Jim Perkins of Abingdon. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Timothy Dale and Jody Scott Roberts; maternal grandfather, Luther Wooddell and paternal grandmother, Twila Roberts. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Burnsville United Methodist Church with the Pastor Lorrie Aikens and Pastor Billy Gram officiating. Interment will follow in the Burnsville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kevin, Logan and Dylan Armstrong, Johnny Shaeffer, Bill Wilson, Joe Lockridge, J.P. Plecker and Jesse Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
