Jerry Lee Helmick, 48, of Laurel Fork, died Sunday, July 23, 2000 at Laurel Meadows Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
He was born May 15, 1952, at Highland County, a son of Hazel Irene (Simmons) and Melvin Lee Helmick.
He was a dairy farmer. He was a member of Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his mother, Hazel Helmick of Bridgewater; his wife, Lynda D. Helmick of Laurel Fork; two sons, Dexter Lee Helmick of Mountain Solon and Gerald Leon Helmick of Bridgewater; a step-son, William Lee Vest of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Ethan Col and Christina Renee Helmick; a step-grandson, William Matthew Vest; a step-grandfather, Alvie Gum of Monterey; two sisters, Dottie L. Randozzo of Crimora and Barbara Jane Dean of Grottoes; a brother, Ira Glenn Helmick of Bridgewater; nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Puffenbarger Family Cemetery near Monterey by the Rev. Alton Griffin.
The family will receive friends from 10-10:30 a.m. at Obaugh Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Monterey, Va. 24465; or a charity of choice.
