Judith (Wooddell) Switzer, 75, of McDowell, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 25, 2008. She was born October 29, 1932 at Doe Hill a daughter of the late Hugh Marvin and Mary Catherine (Carpenter) Wooddell.
Judith was a homemaker. She spent much of her early life taking care of her father and helping to rear her nephew, Vernon Wooddell. She attended Highland Senior Citizens. Judith was well known for her sense of humor. She enjoyed conversing with family and friends on the telephone and was an avid bingo player. She loved to sing and write poetry.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Sue Capps of Virginia Beach; a brother, Arnold W. Wooddell of Staunton; a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Beverly Kunc. Judith was blessed with many friends and family members who cared about her.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Massey and Rev. Elmer Malcolm. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Craig Smith, Gary, David and Dean Simmons, Richard Thompson, Bill Wagner, Lyle Armstrong and Dale Burns.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the McDowell Volunteer Fire Company.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
