Julian Burns Sr.

December 4, 1921 — January 18, 1996

Julian Hackman Burns Sr., 74, of Burnsville, died on Thursday, January 18, 199 at Bath County Community Hospital.

He was born on December 4, 1921 at Burnsville, a son of Thomas Hackman and Leta (Folks) Burns.

He married Opal P. Burns on July 11, 1942.

He was drafted into the Army during World War II and was a retired Bath County school bus driver.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Beverley Ann Keyser of Healing Springs; five sons, Emory Thomas and William Henry, both of Staunton, Julian H. Jr. of Burnsville, Donald Lee of Greenville and Steven Ray of McDowell; four sisters, Helen Puffenbarger of Staunton, Twila Roberts and Jean Roberts, both Burnsville, and Edith Jackson of New Hope; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Bob Ford and John Haymaker with burial in Burnsville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Junior Dunnagon, Dewitt Lambert, Howard and Donnie Burch, Leonard Neil, Gary Rexrode, Ritchie and Wesley Roberts, Jake Cleek and Joe Tuning.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, friends and neighbors attending the service.

The family will friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
