Junior Ake Hartman, 79, of Monterey, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Augusta Health. He was born April 3, 1931 in Pendleton County, WV a son of the late Elemuel and Monna Tina (Wimer) Hartman.
Mr. Hartman attended Green Hill United Methodist Church. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and also from Bath County Pumped Storage Project. He was an avid hunter.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby G. Hartman; a step-son, Darrell Gumm, Jr. and two brothers, Warden G. and Jerry R. Hartman.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Hartman, whom he married on November 6, 1981; daughter, Jeri Louise Harper of Franklin, WV; step-daughter, Linda Mitchell of Harrisonburg; step-son, Neil Douglas Gumm of Churchville; three grandchildren, Amber Nicole Dunn, Shawn and Cindy Hartman; four step-grandchildren, Miranda Lokey, Lacy Graham, Brad and Lindsey Gumm; two step-great-granddaughters, Aliza E. and Ellie Virginia Lokey; four sisters, Irene C. Hahn of Baltimore, MD, Betty J. Connelly of Falls Church, Mary V. Elyard of Orlando, FL and Joan C. Lambert of Riverton, WV and two brothers, Raymond W. “Jack” Hartman of Baltimore, MD and Jimmy G. Hartman of Apache Junction, AZ.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2010 at Green Hill Cemetery, Mill Gap, with the Rev. Richard Gibson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jason Dunn, Brad Gumm, Bob Lokey, John Graham, Doug Gumm and Jimmy Chestnut.
