Kyle Lee Moyers, 75, of Monterey passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at Hospice of the Shenandoah in Fishersville.
He was born October 18, 1943, in Highland County, a son to the late Mazie Florence (Simmons) and Harry Edward Moyers. He wed Anita “Joy” Fertig on April 23, 1963.
Kyle worked in construction all of his life, operating heavy equipment for various companies including Burns Construction, Eavers Construction, Virginia Department of Transportation, Howdyshell Construction and most recently for Mac McBride. His favorite piece of equipment to operate was the grader.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting. He also enjoyed Nascar racing and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball. Above all, he enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kyle is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anita “Joy” Moyers of Monterey; daughter, Melissa Newton and husband, Kelly of Lynchburg; sons, Eddie Moyers of Harrisonburg, Barry Moyers and Perry Moyers and wife, Kim, all of Monterey; five grandchildren, Shana Carson and husband, Layne, Lindsay Moyers, Carrie Moyers, Whitney Hunt and Ransom Moyers; two great-grandchildren, Noah Kerns and Kason Carson; two brothers, Gene Moyers of Monterey and Rodger Moyers and wife, Linda of Starts Draft; as well as his good friend H.T. “Mac” McBride.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Obaugh Funeral Home with The Rev. Mark Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Highland County Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 267, Monterey, Va. 24465.
