Laura Simmons

October 28, 1915 — May 12, 2009

Laura Mae Simmons, 93, of Moyers, WV, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.  She was born October 28, 1915 in Pendleton County, WV a daughter of Harvey and Lucille (Rexrode) Simmons.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Independent Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed reading the newspaper and her devotional and attending community and spiritual activities at Pendleton Manor.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Virginia Bosserman and a half-brother, Ernest Rexrode.

She is survived by three grandsons, Eddie Malcolm of Moyers, WV with whom she had made her home before going to Pendleton Manor in 2002, William “Billy” Malcolm of Staunton, Jerry Malcolm of Hawaii and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2009 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.  Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Andy and Travis Moyers, Gary Sheffer, Eugene Varner, Ronnie Pitsenbarger and Jeff Rader.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
