Lawrence "Larry" Arthur Hoskins

Lawrence “Larry” Arthur Hoskins, age 92, of Monterey, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 at The Springs Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born January 11, 1933 in New Jersey, a native son of Metuchen. Larry served in the Army, and was stationed in Germany during the 1950s. He later lived in Southern California for several decades before relocating to Virginia in the 1990s.

He loved living in Monterey and was often seen walking its streets, visiting with workers on various construction projects. He was an avid car enthusiast with almost perfect recollection of the cars he and his friends drove throughout their lives -- he could even call out make, model and year of classic cars whenever he saw them. He will be remembered for his always friendly demeanor, sense of humor, and exuberant love for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles, Marie, May, and Lucille. 

He is survived by his partner, Janice Estrada of Monterey; daughters, Nancy Ketchie of Jackson, NJ, and Leigh Morgan of Henderson, NV; son, Larry Hoskins of Spotswood, NJ; grandchildren, Matthew, John, Heather, Lisa, Jacob, Todd, Hannah, James, David, and Joshua; as well as great-grandchildren, Jace, Joey, Page, Kayla, Lily, Brian, Walter, and Rowan.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life in the summer of 2026.
