Lenwood Sylvester Armstrong, 50, of Churchville, passed Monday evening, October 30, 1989 as the result of a truck accident near Greenville.

He was born November 10, 1938, at Doe Hill, a son of Jessie Simmons Armstrong of Churchville and the late Melvin Armstrong.

He was a former employee of Smith's Transfer and was presently employed as a truck driver for Harris Logging.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sue Armstrong of Churchville; two daughters, Melinda Chapman and Lisa Robertson, both of Churchville; four sons, Darryl Armstrong of Windsor, NJ, Les and Benny Armstrong, both of Staunton, and Tracy Armstrong of Churchville; four brothers, Richard and Marvin Armstrong, both of Churchville, Lyle and Steve Armstrong, both of McDowell; two sisters, Norma June Slawson of Churchville, Brenda Carter of Swoope; and six grandchildren.

A service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. William Strickler with burial in the McKendree Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ray Lambert, Johnny Davis, Terry Strickler, Elwood Carroll, Richard Benson and Bennie Helmick.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home in McDowell.
