Lester Calhoun Mullenax, 79, of Bartow, WV passed away Sunday night, October 1, 1989 in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV.

He was born April 15, 1910 at Blue Grass, a son of Aaron and Bella (Wimer) Mullenax.

In September 1934, he married Hazel Mullenax of Bartow, who survives.

He was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy, was a retired farmer and logger.

In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Helen Cook of Hagerstown, MD, Charlene Gossard of Williamsport, MD, Arlene Hause of Hagerstown, MD, and Linda Mallow of Job; four sons, Murrel of Arbovale, Dale of Hagerstown, MD, Arthur and Wallace Mullenax, both of Bartow; two sisters, Nellie Waybright of Monterey, Va. and Olie Waybright of Churchville, Va. ; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in the Church of God at Durbin by pastor Alvin A. Craig. Burial will be in the Mullenax Family Cemetery on Alleghany Mountain in Highland County.

The body will be placed  in the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Michael Mallow, Russel House, Tim Galford, Lonnie Cook, Mike Waybright, and William Mullenax.

Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
