Leta Margaret Hiner, 96, of Doe Hill, died Tuesday night, September 27, 1994 in the Bridgewater Home.

She was born June 2, 1898 at Doe Hill and was a daughter of the late Jared A. and Rebecca (Judy) Hiner.

She was a very active member of the Doe Hill United Methodist Church, an honorary member of the Doe Hill UMC Women, and was a loyal supporter of various missions.

She attended Bridgewater College and Boston University with degrees in education and English. She taught at Amherst and Highland County.

She had lived her entire life in Doe Hill until her later years, she made her home with the Robert Shiflett family of Grottoes before becoming a resident at of the Bridgewater Home.

She is survived by a sister, Lura Hook, of the Bridgewater Home and several cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday in the Doe Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Timothy Strock.

Burial will be in the Hiner Family Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Eddie, Bert and John Moyers Jr., Dave and Robert Shiflett, Delbert Rexrode Jr., Alfred and Scott Armstrong and Vernon Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry, Mike and Kenny Armstrong, Roy Simmons, Ray Eagle, Frank Mitchell and other friends attending the service.

There will be no family night, friends may call at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell at any time.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Doe Hill United Methodist Church, Doe Hill, Va. 24433.
