Lucy Carroll

STAUNTON, VA

Lucy Marguerite Carroll, 90, of Staunton and formerly Bolar, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born May 8, 1926 in the Big Valley Community of Highland County a daughter of the late Marcelleus Cloe and Lillian Lee (Rodgers) Carpenter.

Mrs. Carroll was a homemaker and member of Starr Bolar United Methodist Church.  She was a former member of Bolar Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  When she was able, she enjoyed cross-stitching and loved to cook.

On January 24, 1948, she married Harry Lee “Tucker” Carroll who preceded her in death on January 21, 1997.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Howdyshell and Edith Bogan; two brothers, Charles and Lawrence Carpenter, and also a special nephew, Tommy Carpenter.  She was devoted to her cat, Tigger, who passed away in December.

She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she thought so much of.

A graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016 in Green Hill Cemetery, Mill Gap, with the Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating.

For those wishing to pay their respects, Obaugh Funeral Home will receive friends throughout the day Saturday, ending at 8 p.m.
