Mabel Doyle Terry, 96, of Monterey passed away Tuesday, November 21, 1989 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 8, 1893, at Valley Center and was a daughter of the late Newton and Gradda Stulting Doyle.

Mrs. Terry was educated in Highland County public schools and Harrisonburg Teachers College, now James Madison University. She taught in Highland County schools for 21 years and was a bookkeeper at First and Citizens Bank in Monterey for 17 years. She was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Highland County senior citizens group.

On June 27, 1942, she married Frank Terry, who died March 29, 1973.

Surviving are one sister, Ruth D. Cox of Monterey; two step-daughters, Louise Slovensky and Helen Watson, both of Staunton; and one step-son, Curtis Terry of Roanoke.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home by Dr. Robert L. Gue and the Rev. William C. Cox. Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery.
