Madge Blagg Moyers

Madge Blagg Moyers, 87, of Doe Hill, died Wednesday, June 8, 1988 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. 

She was born February 9, 1901 at Doe Hill, a daughter of John H. and Nannie Bell (Bradshaw) Blagg. 

She was a member of Doe Hill United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for a number of years and was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She attended State Normal School, now James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, and taught school in Bath and Highland counties.

Mrs. Moyers was a member of the Sarah Murray Lewis chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Highland Senior Citizens.

 On Nov. 29, 1923, she married Albert L. Moyers, who died Dec. 21.1969. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian M. Hevener; sister, Mary B. Ingram; and brother, John B. Blagg.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Maloy of McDowell and Mrs. Glenna Graves of Harrisonburg; two sons, Rembert D. of Moyers, W.Va., and John L. Moyers, Sr. of Doe Hill; one sister, Helen Baldridge of Blue Springs, Mo.; one brother, Julian J. Blagg of Tacoma, Md.; and 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

 A service was conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Doe Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lowell Stovall. Burial was in Doe Hill Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Dean, Scott, Kevin, John Jr., Eddie and Berton Moyers, Patrick and Michael Maloy and Asa Graves.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunday school class.

The familly will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
