Maggie Jane Rexrode, 87, of Monterey, died Sunday, July 23, 1989 at the home of her son in Monterey.

She was born January 16, 1902 in Highland County, a daughter of Thomas John and Mary Etta (Vandevander) Rexrode. 

She was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Ira W. Rexrode, preceded her in death August 4, 1943. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas O. Rexrode, February 16, 1980.

Survivors include two daughters, Louise Rexrode of Monterey and Eva Quist of Lexington; five sons, Samuel L. of Monterey, Douglas of Staunton, E. Dale and Elbert H., both of Waynesboro, and Robert Rexrode of Lexington; one sister, Sallie Kate Hammer of Monterey; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Monterey United Methodist Church by Dr. Robert Gue. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery,

Her sons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell; and at other times at the home of her daughter, Louise Rexrode.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monterey United Methodist Church, Monterey, Va. 24465.
