Mamie Eagle

Mamie H. Eagle, 79, of Midlothian and formerly of Monterey, died Sunday, September 27, 2009.  She was born October 7, 1929 in Vanderpool, a daughter of the late Charles Roscoe and Daisy Enid (Hull) Harold.

On October 5, 1948, she married Marvin Luther “Dick” Eagle, who preceded her in death on June 18, 2008.  She was also predeceased by two brothers, Leo Glen Harold and Jack Hull Herold and a sister, Jessie Josephine Hess.

Mrs. Eagle was a member of the Monterey Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women of Monterey and Highland County Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  She was a former General Registrar of Highland County and worked as a bookkeeper for Monterey Livestock Sales.  She loved gardening and cooking.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Pete Arrington of Midlothian; two granddaughters, Ashley Arrington Bland of Alexandria and Megan Elizabeth Arrington of Pittsburgh, PA; a great-granddaughter, Mabel Juliet Bland; three sisters, Margaret Ann Rexrode of Centreville, Alma Jean Harmon of Springfield and Ellen Sue Puffenbarger of Hightown and two brothers, Warren Gray “Mike” Herold of Staunton and Charles Roscoe Harold, Jr. of Fredericksburg.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Monterey Presbyterian Church with Pastor Chip Hill and the Rev. Melissa Litrel Harmon officiating.  Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be James Michael Bland, Mike Herold, Dareld Puffenbarger, Timothy Harmon, Berkley Arrington, Melvin Arrington, Edgar Yancey, Jay Hull and Carlton Hull.  Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
