DOE HILL, VA Margaret S. Blagg, 92, of Doe Hill passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Pendleton Manor. She was born May 22, 1922 in Carlisle, PA a daughter of the late Lee E. and Lena Alice (Heishman) Sheaffer. Mrs. Blagg was a member and pianist at Doe Hill United Methodist Church. An educator for 42 years, Mrs. Blagg began her career as a teacher in Doe Hill, then taught at Franklin, WV before returning to Highland County to teach music at all three elementary schools. She later taught at Stonewall Elementary, where she went on to become principal, and completed her career at Highland Elementary School. On June 19, 1946, she married Alfred Wilson Blagg, who preceded her in death on October 7, 1998. She also was predeceased by her sister, Helen M. McCoy and her brother, William B. Sheaffer. Mrs. Blagg is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee Wilson and Marilyn G. Blagg and James Abner and Tracey C. Blagg, all of Doe Hill; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha R. Palmer of Stuarts Draft and Ruth A. Daugherty of Lancaster, PA and her brother, Rev. Lee B. Sheaffer and wife, Sue of Mechanicsville. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m.Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Doe Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Boger officiating. Burial will follow at Doe Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gary Simmons, Lynn Pullin, Steve Botkin, Scotty Armstrong, Alfred Armstrong and Josh Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell. Memorial contributions may be made to Doe Hill Cemetery, c/o Larry Armstrong, P.O. Box 73, McDowell, VA 24458.
