Mary Hogue

November 29, 1921 — January 30, 2010

Mary Copeland Hogue  went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Pendleton Manor Nursing Home, Franklin, WV. Mary was born November 29, 1921 to Wyatte Bert and Jennie Arthur Copeland in Ashland, Kentucky. Mary lived in Charlottesville, Virginia and had two brothers, Wyatte James Copeland and Russell Bert Copeland, both deceased. She married Joseph Richard Hogue, deceased, of Anniston, Alabama on August 25 th , 1951. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jack Flynn of Monterey, Virginia; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Courtney Hogue of Severna Park, Maryland; grandchildren, Madeleine Hogue, Lillian Hogue, Carson Hogue all of Severna Park, Maryland; Michael D. and Windy Van Curen of Richmond, Virginia and Jessica Seay of Kill Devil Hills, NC; great-grandchildren, Emma Seay of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Maddy Hogue of Richmond, Virginia.

Mary attended Mars Hill College in North Carolina and completed her degree program at Westhampton, University of Richmond. She completed graduate studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Mary was employed by the International Foreign Mission Board in Richmond, Virginia for many years in News and Information Services.

Mary served in home missions in Louisiana and as pastor’s wife in churches in Alabama, Georgia and Virginia. She and her husband attended Bon Air Baptist Church for many years where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. In later years, she attended Highland Baptist Church in Monterey, Virginia. She loved Christian Service above all, loved music, reading and meditation. She also loved her many friends

A memorial service will be held at the Highland Baptist Church, Monterey, Virginia Wednesday, February 3 rd at 2:00 PM. Private graveside services will be held in Richmond, Virginia.
