Mary Louise Eckard

Mary Louise (Hiner) Eckard, 86, of Mount Sidney, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at her home.

She was born December 12, 1936 in Mill Gap, a daughter of the late Walter Lee and Vergie Mae (Hiner) Hiner. On September 23, 1955 she married Robert Kenton Eckard, who preceded her in death on August 11, 1995.

Mrs. Eckard was employed with the Augusta County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, where she retired as the court clerk in 1997. An avid UVA fan, she enjoyed watching college basketball, NASCAR races, as well as reading. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Additional predeceased family members include a daughter, Penny Lee Via; and grandson, Brandon Lee Clark.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Kay Clark and husband, Dennis of Staunton; granddaughter, Ashley McGann and husband, Justin of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Brenda Ziros of Warrenton; great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Aubree McGann; nieces, Jennifer Ziros and Amy Hope; as well as special friends, Norma Botkin, Kay Smith, and Donna Bosserman.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2023 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Burial will follow in Monterey Cemetery.

The family requests those wishing to call upon them to please do so at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
