Mavis (Hodge) Plecker

February 7, 1942 — January 24, 2026

Millboro

Mavis Elaine (Hodge) Plecker, wife of James “Jim” Plecker, age 83, of Millboro, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at her home.

She was born February 7, 1942 in Bath County, a daughter of the late Linnea Lovisa Matilda (Franson) and Lonnie Hubert Hodge.

Mrs. Plecker was a graduate of Valley High School and from there attended the Elizabeth Brant School of Business, where she graduated from the medical assistant program. In addition to her role as a homemaker, Mavis worked in many different occupations throughout her life including server at the Warm Springs Inn, seamstress at Jane Colby, medical assistant and private caregiver, and ultimately retired as office manager of The Inn at Gristmill Square, following 30 years of service.

Amongst the many activities Mavis enjoyed in life, she truly enjoyed time spent raising a garden and canning her bounty, as well as cooking and preparing Sunday night dinners for her family. Mrs. Plecker was also a charter member of the Millboro Area Rescue Squad, and volunteered as an EMT, remaining faithful to the cause until her decline in health no longer allowed her to run calls. Additionally, Mavis was a true Christian woman and longtime member of Woodland Union Church. There she served as chairperson of the church’s meal committee, which was a position she said “was a most rewarding task and great labor of love.” Above all else, Mavis will be remembered for her love of family, and how much she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Plecker was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and John Hodge.

She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-five years, James “Jim” Plecker; sons, Larry Plecker of Millboro, Dale Plecker and wife, Angie of Millboro, and Robert Plecker and wife, Jill of Hot Springs; her daughter, Krystal Plecker of Marionville, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Lonnie Hodge and wife, Ruth of Lynchburg; her sister, Sandra Wengerd and husband, Dan of Dayton; as well as special friends, Betty Loan and Audrey Puffenbarger.

A service to celebrate the life of Mavis will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, February 8th, 2026 at Woodland Union Church with Pastor David George officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
