Mazie Lowry

[caption id="attachment_10" align="alignleft" width="240"] Mazie "Marie" Lowry[/caption] MONTEREY - Mazie "Marie" Lowry, 90, of Monterey, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Pendleton Manor. She was born February 4, 1922 in Dunmore, WV a daughter of the late Wade and Georgia (Taylor) Galford. Mrs. Lowry was a homemaker, who also helped on the farm. She especially liked tending her sheep and chickens. She was a member of Green Hill United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ashby Lowry in September 1985; her son, Michael Lee Lowry in September 1998; two sisters, Beulah Meese and Virginia Matheny; two brothers, Thomas and Ben Galford and two infant brothers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Connie Marie and Richard Gabel of Louisville, CO; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Myra Lowry of Monterey; five grandchildren, Bradford and Russell Lowry of Monterey, Greg Gabel of Ft. Louis, CO, Keith Gabel and wife, Lisa of Italy and Debbie Gabel of Michigan; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Carpenter of California and Dolly Simmons of Woodbridge and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Andre Crummett and the Rev. Erin Geoffrion officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ritchie Hicks, Vernon Simmons, Glenn Halterman, David Lightner, Richard Waybright, Jr., Scott Duncan and Randy Harold. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
