Melvin Jones Pullin, 72, died Friday, February 3, 1989 at King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born January 13, 1917 in McDowell, a son of Frank and bertha (Wooddell) Pullin.

On January 6, 1941 he married Josephine Eagle.

He attended the Parnassus United Methodist Church and was a retired employee of Western State Hospital.

In addition to his wife, survivors include, one daughter, Belva G. Shifflett of Staunton; two sons, Gilbert J. of Churchville and Lynn H. Pulling of Staunton; five sisters, Lenora Hook, Bertie Parsons, Maty Chloe Pullin and Anna Bell Simmons, all of Staunton; three brothers, Burton, Theodore and Elbert Pull, all of Staunton; eight grandchildren; and one step-grandson.

Mr. Pullin was preceded in death by a twin brother, Marvin F. Pullin, who died August 3, 1976.

A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. W. Ray Crockett. Burial will be in McDowell Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Arnold Wooddell, Frank and Hugh Pullin, Lyle Armstrong, Junior Johnson, Russell Cline, John Moyers Sr. and Frank Shifflett.

The family will receive friend 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in McDowell at at others times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parnassus United Methodist Church, Churchville, Va. 24421.
