Myrtle Marie Hooke

Myrtle Marie H. Hooke, 78, of Hightown, a native of Southampton County, died Saturday, June 25, 1994, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Sept. 9, 1915, a daughter of Gardner Thomas Hundley Sr. and Myrtle Williams Hundley.

She was a 1936 graduate of Farmville State Teacher's College with a BS degree in education. She had taught school in the counties of Southhampton and Highland, retiring in June 1980.

On December 12, 1941, she married John Robert Hooke of McDowell and Newport News, To this union, three children were born: Dan Alison, Iris Anne and Robert Leslie. The family circle was broken on March 21, 1952, when God called Dan (age nine) to His heavenly home.

Mrs. Hooke leaves to mourn John Robert Hooke, her husband, Iris Anne Hooker, her daughter and Robert Leslie Hooke, her son.

A funeral will be conducted Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Timothy Stork. Burial will be Tuesday, June 28th in Rosemont Cemetery in Sudley.
