Nina Smith

Nina Virginia (Siron) Smith, 50, of McDowell, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday morning, January 6, 1996.

She was born June 6, 1945 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Eva Susan Puffenbarger and James Rodney Siron.

On Octobert 9, 1946, she married Louie Watler Smith, son of the late Rosie Puffenbarger and Isaac Clay "Bob" Smith.

Mrs. Smith belonged to the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and had been employed by the MGW Telephone Company and the Highland County School System.

Surviving besides her husband of McDowell; are a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Kenneth L. Fix of Staunton and a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Craig and Belinda Smith of Staunton; one sister, Violet Cox of South Carolina; four brothers, John of Staunton, Charles of McDowell, Glenn of Fishersville and Boyd of McDowell; special friends, Clara Ervine of McDowell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 9 at 1:30 p.m. at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Ginn.

Burial will be in the McKendree Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Doug and Jim Siron, David Simmons, Kenneth L. Fix, Paul Blake, Bill Huffman, Brent and Kyle Obaugh and Dr. T.E. Billingsley. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department or McDowell Ladies Auxiliary, McDowell, Va. 24458 or to the Highland County Rescue Squad, PO Box 268, Monterey, Va. 24465.
