Nora Rutherford

Fincastle, VA Nora Virginia Rutherford, age 94, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born November 3, 1920 in the village of McDowell located in Highland County, the daughter of the late Henry C. and Mary (Hupman) Eagle. Mrs. Rutherford was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Pullin and Lucille Hahn; and two brothers, William Rosser Eagle and Henry C. Eagle Jr. Surviving family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Glen Hicklin of Millboro, and Brenda and Gary Francis of Riner; two sons, Henry Rutherford of Buchanan, and Samuel Rutherford of Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and Stephan Richards of Madison Heights; brother and sister-in-law, Roscoe and Edna Eagle of Falls Church; her grandson and wife, Wayne and Alice Hicklin of Millboro; two step grandchildren and spouses, Steve Francis and wife, LeAnne of Christiansburg, and Sharon Zuckerwar and husband, Tom of Riner; three step great-grandchildren, Kimberly Smith and husband, Brian, Avery, and Alex Zuckerwar; four step great-great-granddaughters, Peyton, Kenley, Alexa, and Ryan Smith; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015 in McDowell Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. David George officiating.
