Otis Hartman

Otis Hartman, age 72, of Hightown, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007.  He was born September 5, 1935 at Franklin, WV, a son of the late Earl and Mary (Sponaugle) Hartman.

Mr. Hartman was a retired logger and a past member of the Blue Grass Ruritan Club.

Mr. Hartman was preceded in death by a brother, Weldon Hartman.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Arlene (Rexrode) Hartman; three children, Karen Hartman of Hightown, Arlene Hull and friend Jeff Phillips of Harrisonburg and Belinda Dunkle and husband Robert of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren, Chasity Wilson, Jamie Hull, Kristen, Tracy and Timmy Armstrong; four great-grandchildren, Isiah and Quintin Garland, Kaitlyn Wilson and Cayden Warner; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Charlotte Hartman of Springville, UT and Loy and Bobbie Hartman of Harrisonburg; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Kipp of Broadway, Kate Mitchell of Franklin, WV, Lucy and Ron Kirk of Franklin, WV, Cornelia and Jake Teter of Franklin, WV and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Andre Crummett and Elder David Hartman.  Internment will follow in Hightown Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Jason Wilson, Robert Dunkle, Andy King, Timmy Armstrong, Jeff Phillips, Rick Andes, J.R. Botkin and Herman Puffenbarger.  Honorary pallbearers will be friends in attendance.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
