Patsy "Poncho" Jean (Hodge) Hupman

Patsy Jean “Poncho” (Hodge) Hupman, age 80, of Hot Springs passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at The Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs.

She was born in Millboro, April 18, 1946, a daughter of the late Bland Newton and Minnie Gladys (Simmons) Hodge.

On May 1, 1970, she married Elmore Linden “Buckshot” Hupman, who preceded her in death on April 17, 1994.

One who loved the outdoors, Patsy enjoyed fishing and digging “seng” with her husband. She also liked to tell stories, read and put puzzles together. Patsy cared for her parents in their later years. Above all, Patsy will be remembered as being a wonderful, wife, daughter, sister, and one who was always helping others.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mary A. Tenerowicz and husband, Larry and Judy C. Kincaid and husband, Bill; as well as infant brother, Bland Jr.

She is survived by her sisters, Doris L. Bartee and husband, Ron of Myrtle Beach, SC, Janet H. Gray and Diana L. Wilson, both of Fishersville; as well as two brothers, Charles Franklin Hodge and wife, Debbie of Raphine and Robert “Doc” Hodge of Middlebrook.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Monday, June 8, 2026 at Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell with pastor Thomas McRoberts officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Head Waters.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hodge, Brian Puhle, Billy Webb and Glenn Boyette.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, as well as at other times at the home of either of her sisters.
