Rebecca Elizabeth (Hunt) Walker

Rebecca Elizabeth (Hunt) Walker, age 70, of Monterey, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born July 24, 1954, the daughter of the late Burgess Clark and Norma Elizabeth (Hamilton) Hunt.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Becky was a lithographer within the Navy from 1974 until 1977. With the experience she acquired during her enlistment, Becky opened her own printing company in San Antonio, Texas before returning to Highland. Once home in Monterey, she would begin employment with the Recorder working as an offset printer. Following 25 years with the Recorder, Becky would retire from that vocation and went back into business for herself opening A Woman’s Touch Painting Company.

Becky will be remembered as an active participant with the former local honor guard, performing countless military funeral rites throughout Highland County. Additionally, she enjoyed mowing, landscaping, and many will recall with her beautiful singing voice, she loved to sing “The Star of the East,” annually at Victory Chapel Advent Christian Church’s Christmas program.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Dawn Walker of San Antonio, TX; son, David Alan Walker of San Antonio, TX; brother, Elesson “Buddy” Hunt and companion, Glenda Kennedy of Mustoe; nephews, Dean and Randy Hunt of Monterey; niece, Jean McCarty of Monterey; numerous cousins; as well as special friends, Kimberly Moyers, Abby Wimer, Melissa Hull (and her family); and Betty Arbaugh, all of Monterey.

In addition to her parents, Becky was recently predeceased by her best friend, Carol Waybright.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2025 in McLaughlin Family Cemetery with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dean Hunt, David Colaw, Perry Moyers, Paxton Grant, Evan Vaus and Herb Lightner.

The chapel at Obaugh Funeral Home will be open for friends and community members wishing to pay their respects, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2025.
