Rhoda Marie Evick

Rhoda Marie Evick, 90, of Monterey, passed away Monday afternoon, January 1, 1990 in the Bridgewater Home.

She was born November 8, 1899 near Monterey, a daughter of Joseph A. and Lucy (Rexrode) Hiner.

Her husband, A. Kieffer Evick, preceded her in death May 10, 1964. She was also preceded in death by five brothers.

She was a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Thelma Townsend of Mill Gap;  step-daughter, Eleanor E. Harper of Staunton; two grandchildren, David E. and Lynn E. Townsend; six great-grandchildren, Carol, Cindy, Chad, Marsha, Marcella and Jeremy Townsend; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Ginn. Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Townsend Jr., David Townsend, Russell Rexrode, Merle Eagle, J.B., John, Robert and Joseph R. Hiner.

The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
