Monterey

Robert Eugene Lambert, Sr., age 86, of Monterey, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, West Virginia.

Mr. Lambert was born on March 11, 1940 in Cherry Grove, WV, a son of the late Zella and Mattie Mar (Vandevander) Lambert.

Robert was a 1961 graduate of the former Franklin High School, and that same year he would marry Dottie Lou Rohrbaugh. Additionally, he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church located in Moyers, WV. Throughout his life, he kept his faith in the Lord, which was very important to him.

Robert had previously been employed with the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Virginia Trout Company, and worked on and about the farm. He enjoyed hunting and teaching his children to hunt. But, above all else, he truly enjoyed time together with his grandsons who he happily “took with him everywhere”, and time spent doting on his great-grandson, Garrett.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Hazel Bressler, Agnes Veach, Lillian Bragg, Roberta Warner, and Ella Jane Myers; and brothers, Pete Lambert, Lester Lambert, and infant, Jerry Lambert.

Surviving family members include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Dottie Lambert of Monterey; his daughter, Rita Marie Lambert of Staunton; his son Robert Lambert, Jr. and wife, Kitty of Monterey; grandsons, Travis Eugene Lambert and Christopher Samuel Lambert; great-grandsons, Garrett Samuel Lambert, Ryker Lambert, and Colt Lambert; brothers, Odell Lambert of Sugar Grove, WV and Thurman Lambert of Baltimore, MD; as well as several special nieces and nephews.

Following cremation and at a future date, his ashes will be inurned in the Puffenbarger Cemetery located in Possum Trot.

In recognition of the outstanding care provided to Robert over the past several years, memorial contributions may be made to Pendleton Manor, P.O. Box 700, Franklin, W.Va. 26807.
