Robert Eagle Mauzy Jr., 88, of Blue Grass passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at his home.
He was born April 1, 1930 in Blue Grass the only child of the late Robert Eagle and Martha “Kathryn” (Wimer) Mauzy. He was the last member of his immediate family and survived by a number of cousins.
He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Following graduation he went to work for Bell Labs in Burlington, NC and later was employed with the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, WV until his retirement in 1980.
He was an avid electronics enthusiast and enjoyed designing, building and erecting antennas, as well as various other electronic projects and repairs.
He was a long-time member of the former Crabbottom Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 in Blue Grass Cemetery with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.
