Robert “Bob” Wayne Wilson, 85, of Gypsy Hill Apartments in Staunton, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the home of his daughter, Victoria in Swoope.
He was born September 26, 1936 in Nutter Fort, WV, a son of the late Pete William and Mae Matilda (Dawson) Wilson.
A proud US Army veteran, Bob served as a medic in Korea. He drove a taxi cab in Chicago for many years before retiring to Virginia. He loved to fish and play horseshoes at Gypsy Hill Park and was always one for a good story. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.
He is survived by three daughters, Victoria Banks and husband, Jesse of Swoope, Robin Filipiak and husband, Dennis of Florida and Nina Solis and husband, Phil of Montgomery, Il; grandchildren, Andrea Lockhart of Staunton, Jessica Denham of Ottawa, Il., Alina Hartley of Odell, Il., Durshan Mahant of Casselberry, Fl., Christine Sommers of Geneva, Il., Christopher Oraha of Il. and special grandson, Jesse Banks Jr. of Staunton, who diligently cared for his grandpa for many years; as well as great-grandchildren, Felix, Devin, Levi, Payton, Riley, Cameryn, Aria, Jaxson, Jordan, Dakota, Hunter, William and Elijah.
In addition to his parents and wife, Lillian Opal (Tudor) Wilson, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Marsha Mahant; as well as four brothers and three sisters.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m., Friday, January 21st at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastor Todd Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Monterey Cemetery.
Family members and close friends will serve as active pallbearers.
