Ronald "Ronnie" Lee Crisco

August 28, 1969 — December 25, 2025

Monterey

Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Crisco, age 56, of Monterey, unexpectedly passed away, December 25, 2025 at his home.

He was born August 28, 1969 in Bath County, a son of Mary June (Hise) Crisco and the late Curtis Daniel Crisco Jr.

Ronnie was one of a kind as anyone who knew him was well aware. Ronnie was a past member of the Mill Gap Ruritans and an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. A “good ole boy” to the bone, he made it hard to forget that fact as well. He cared for his family and friends dearly. Never hesitating to lend a “frying pan sized” helping hand. He demonstrated many instances of his “he-man like strength” that he prided himself in, from heaving square bales to splitting some damned old sugar, he was never afraid of hard work. He often helped many up and down the Blue Grass Valley. Nonetheless, he was a gentle giant rarely uttering a harsh word, unless well-deserved of course. The world could surely use more men like Ronnie. Above all, he leaves behind a legacy of kind heartedness that will surely never be forgotten.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two half-sisters, Cathy Pugh and Tammy Crisco.

Surviving in addition to his mother are sisters, Cindy Dalzell and husband, Michael of Holiday, FL and Danielle Carter of Monterey; half-sister, Debra Stout of Asheboro, NC; nephews, Joshua Miller and wife, Jeanne of Roanoke and Jaxson Carter of Monterey; niece, Brandi Miller of Holiday, FL; great-nephews and niece, Ayden, Dallas, Hunter and Teresa Miller; as well as his many friends.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell with Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Highland County Humane Society, PO Box 458, Monterey, Va. 24465.
