Rose Pitsenbarger

December 9, 1947 — February 23, 2012

Rose Mary Pitsenbarger, 64, of Franklin passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va.

She was born Dec. 9, 1947, in Fairmont, N.C., a daughter of the late Cecil Elisha and Dessie Mae Strickland Hunt.

Mrs. Pitsenbarger was retired from General Motor after 23 years of service. She attended Walnut Street UMC, Totten Chapel UMC, and as a younger woman her home church, New Bethel Holiness Methodist in Rowland, N.C.

A creative and selfless person, she found great enjoyment decorating churches for holidays, weddings, and special events. Additionally, she loved flowers, time spent gardening and working on crafts.

Her husband, Worthie J. Pitsenbarger, whom she wed Oct. 12, 1990, preceded her in death on May 30, 2011.
Surviving are four daughters, Pamela K. Brooks and Charlene Rose Pistorio, both of Baltimore, Md., Tracy Lynn Pistorio of Jacksonville, Fl, and Lillian Rose Pistorio of Franklin; a son, Charles Pistorio, Jr. of Franklin; a step-daughter, Peggy Pitsenbarger of Tampa, Fla; two step-sons, Dexter Worthie Pitsenbarger of Baltimore, Md. And Victor Ervin Pitsenbarger of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Shiloh and Khafre Tate, Jimmi Dease, Walter Hunt Chandler, Molly Hunt Chandler and Spencer Pitsenbarger; five brothers, James S. Hunt of Pembroke, N.C. Willie A. Hunt of Lumberton, N.C. Junior Levon Hunter of Charlotte, N.C. Ledd Edwards Hunt of Rowland, N.C. and James Howard Hunt of Jessup, Md.; five sisters, Margaret Brown of Jacksonville, Fla. Genece Bowie of Glen Burnie, Md., Betty Lois and Edna Lee Sampson, both of Lumberton, N.C. and Kathy Oxendine of Fairmont, N.C.; special friends Ruth Drake and Dr. Ron Kelsey/

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Vertie Hunt Thomas, Versie Mae Hunt, Reginia Hunt McCorkle, and a brother, James Anthony Hunt.

A funeral service was conducted Sunday at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, Va. with the Rev. Bob Anderson and Rev. Dave Boger officiating. Interment followed in Totten Chapel Cemetery.
