Mrs. Ruth Doyle Cox, 94, the widow of Everett W. Cox Sr., died Monday morning, October 22, 1990 at Pendleton Nursing Home.
She was born February 2, 1896 in Highland County, a daughter of Newton J. and Gradda (Stultin) Doyle.
She was a school teacher and taught first grade at the elementary school in Monterey for a number of years. Later she was a residency clerk for the Department of Highways in Highland County.
She and her husband operated Cox's Variety Shop for a number of years. She was a member of the Monterey Presbyterian Church and taught Kindergarten in Sunday school for many years. She was the church's organist and choir director and historian for the Women of the church.
She is survived by a step-son, E.W. Cox Jr.; one step-granddaughter, Nancy Cox of Monterey and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. C. William Cox and Jerry Ginn. Burial will follow in Monterey Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Garland Dever, John Reynolds, Alex Barton, Donald Dowdy, Joe Pritchard and William Niswander.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Thompson, William Smith, Sam and R.L. Sullenberger, Tom Dever, Jeff Hiner, Darwin King, Jacob Hevener, Glen Hammer and Richard Simmons.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Highland County Rescue Squad, PO Box 268, Monterey or to a favorite charity,
