Ruth S. Dunkle, age 84, of Franklin, WV, died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at her home.
She was born November 1, 1921 at Moyers, WV a daughter of the late Harry Arthur and Nancy Rebecca (Rexrode) Stone. On June 6, 1942, she married L. Stanley Dunkle, who preceded her in death on January 16, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her son, Leon Dunkle on October 16, 1977; an infant daughter on January 24, 1947; five brothers and three sisters. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Dunkle was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Jo Pitsenbarger of Franklin, WV, with whom she resided and Sue and her husband, Joe Laskey of Marlinton, WV; four granddaughters, Jodi Pitsenbarger of Franklin, WV, Billie Jo Crites of Louisa, Bobbie Jo and her husband, Kevin Kesecker of Gambrills, MD and Stephanie Miner of Keyser, WV; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Crites, Katelyn and Hannah Kesecker, Anthony Haggerty and Emily Mayhew and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, September 4, 2006 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by Pastors Carl Tribett and David Boger. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, WV.
Active pallbearers will be Darrell and Harry Lee Stone, Gary Simmons, Gerald Rexrode, Robert Dunkle and Zachary Crites. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
