Samuel Everett Hoover, 76, of Gainesville and formerly of McDowell, passed away Tuesday morning, August 29, 1989 at his home.

He was born June 22, 1913 at Doe Hill, a son of Cameron W. and Bertie Snyder Hoover.

He was a member of Doe Hill United Methodist Church. He had operated Hoover's Service Station at McDowell before moving to Gainesville where he had worked as a mechanic.

His wife, Janet (Siron) Hoover, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Wade of Gainesville; a sister, Lurline Mitchell of Falls Church; four brothers, Eugene and Ellis, both of Doe Hill, William of Staunton and Herbert Hoover of Harrisonburg; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Doe Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Steve McMillion.

Pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell.
