Samuel Rexrode

September 12, 1923 — October 1, 2010

Samuel Lee Rexrode, 86, of Monterey, passed away Saturday, May 01, 2010 at Avante at Waynesboro.  He was born September 12, 1923 in Monterey a son of the late Ira W. and Maggie Jane (Rexrode) Rexrode.

Mr. Rexrode was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church and attended Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a farmer, truck driver and an avid outdoorsman who loved to turkey hunt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie (Taylor) Rexrode on May 28, 1997; an infant daughter; a sister, Eva Quist and a brother, Thomas Rexrode.

He is survived by a sister, Louise Rexrode of Monterey and Florida; four brothers, Douglas Rexrode and wife, Betty Jo of Churchville, Dale Rexrode and wife, Pat of Waynesboro; Robert Rexrode of Lexington, and Elbert Rexrode and wife, Eleanore of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Monterey Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Gibson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
