Selah Malcom
March 29, 1906 — September 9, 2006
Selah R. Malcom, age 100, of Staunton and formerly of McDowell, died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the home of her daughter, with whom she resided. She was born March 29, 1906 in Rockingham County, a daughter of the late Jacob Matroney and Florence Elizabeth (Cline) Rodeffer.
Mrs. Malcom graduated from Bridgewater College and did mission work at Hiner Church of the Brethren while she was a student there. She was a member of Hiner Church of the Brethren and taught adult Sunday school. She was a retired public school teacher. She taught in New Jersey, Augusta, Highland and Bath Counties for a total of 28 years.
Her husband Clarence Peter Malcom preceded her in death on July 29, 1969. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles C. and Cline E. Rodeffer, an infant brother and an infant granddaughter.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth M. and Frank T. Pullin of Staunton, Rosalee F. and Garnett R. Siron of Monterey and Shirley N. and John R. Goodman, Jr. of Salem; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert S. and Karen M. Malcolm of Ramona, OK and Garet S. and Linda P. Malcom of Covington; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Bruce of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Madeline A. Rodeffer of Staunton and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Hiner Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Garold Senger. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Alan Pullin, Wade Wilkowske, David Malcolm, Dale Botkin, Gary Rexrode and Charles Varner. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
