Stewart Travis Chestnut, 47, of Fork Union, died on Friday (Sept. 3, 1993) at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 9, 1945 in Harrisonburg, a son of James Otis and Icie (Gutshall) Chestnut.
He was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church. He was owner of Chestnut Greenhouse at Fork Union.
Steward was preceded in death by two brothers, James Otis Chestnut Jr., and Curtis Elwood Chestnut.
In addition to his mother of Monterey, surviving are four sisters, Christine Chestnut, and Juanita Thompson, both of Staunton, Anita Cauley of Hot Springs, and Ila Claytor of Clifton Forge; and five brothers, Carl of Dunmore, W. Va., Darrel of Verona, Lowell of Dale City, Bobby Lee of Stevens City, and Lyle Chestnut of Harrisonburg. He is also survived by a special friend, Peggy Beauchamp, Calvin and Bobby Jones of Fork Union, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

A service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Haley, with burial in Monterey Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Curtis and C.W. Gutshall, Steve and Holmes Stephenson, Jay Hull, James Varner, Richard Waybright, Ernest Hiner and Buddy Hunt.
