Susie Adaline Botkin, 62, of Monterey died Monday afternoon, March 20, 1989 as a result of a car crash on U.S. 220 south in Bath County.
She was born Nov. 26, 1926 at Vanderpool, a daughter of Samuel Luther and Rachel Mae Simmons Simmons.
On June 13, 1953 she was married to Randolph L. Botkin, who died April 20,1965.
Mrs. Botkin was a member of and Sunday school teacher at Church of God of Prophecy, a CPMA leader and a free literature representative. She had worked for Hanover Shoe Co. for 19 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy L. Hiner of Monterey; two sons, W. A. and David Botkin, both of Monterey; two sisters, Mazie Moyers of Monterey and Blanche Geiger of Marlinton, W.Va.; a brother, Clement Simmons of Mustoe; and six grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Roy Shewbridge, with burial in Crummett-Botkin cemetery north of McDowell.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Simmons, Ezra Halterman, Roger Wimer, Harry Ralston, Randy Botkin, Okie Nipper, Marshall Neil and Rowan Selmon.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 Wednesday at the funeral home in McDowell.
The honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Candida and Kimberly Botkin and Tracy and Tera Hiner.
Memorials may be made to the Church of God of Prophecy, Monterey, Va. 24465.
